Health Insurance Steps to Take if You're a Freelancer
As a freelancer, it is your job responsibility to make sure that you have appropriate health insurance coverage. This task can feel daunting if you've never had to buy insurance for yourself and have always had a parent or employer provide it. It's really not that difficult to find a great quote and get good coverage though if you take a little time to do some research.
The first step is figure out what kind of coverage you need. It is always a good idea to get a comprehensive plan that includes dental insurance. If your eyesight is not perfect it can be a good idea to find coverage that includes vision as well. You should of course take into account any other members of your family who will need to be covered as well. There are numerous resources on the internet to determine the best type of coverage for you based on your needs.
The next step is to compare different policies. This can take a little time but is well worth it and takes much less time than if you were trying to find good policies via telephone. Once you get an idea of what kind of price you'll be paying for the policy you need you'll want to set up a budget for yourself and decide if you want to pay monthly premiums or pay for the entire year at once.
Once you have it narrowed down to several companies it is a good idea to do some research on these companies. You can do this by doing a quick internet search. There are a ton of resources out there where consumers can rate service and prices they have experience with. Keep in mind though, it is unlikely to find a company that will have absolutely no complaints. There is always someone who is unsatisfied!
